Wamakko donates N7.3m to families of accident victims

Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State has donated N7.3 million to the families of 19 persons who died in auto accident on Dec. 15 at Gidan-Sandaga village on the Sokoto-Illela road.
Wamakko announced the donation on Monday when he paid condolence visit to the two villages.
The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the accident involved two articulated vehicles from Fura-Girke/Inwala villages on the way to Illela Market in Illela Local government Area.
Each vehicle carried over 50 passengers and cows.
Twenty six people who sustained injuries in the accident are receiving treatment at the Illela General Hospital, the Specialist Hospital, Sokoto and the Uthmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto.
The governor said the families of each of the 19 deceased persons would be given N250, 000 while each of the 26 injured persons would get N100,000.
“The gesture is aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the families of the deceased persons.
“It is also aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the injured persons as they recuperate’’, he added.
Wamakko urged the families of the victims to regard the accident as an act of God.
